The Trek Red Truck racing team will bring a west-coast flavour to the Preston Street Criterium presented by eQ Homes later this month.
The Vancouver-based team is sending a strong roster, particularly in the women’s race, and will be aiming to end The Cyclery-Opus‘ five-year winning streak in the women’s race — just as The Cyclery has stepped up as a supporting sponsor for the event.
And Trek Red Truck has some inside knowledge of the event: team member Sarah Coney won Preston Street back in 2010, when she was riding for … you guessed it … The Cyclery.
She will take the start this year alongside national track team member and junior worlds medalist Kinley Gibson; former national team member and current BC criterium champion Leah Guloien; Suzanne Hamilton; and BC road race champion Sara Bergen.
Trek Red Truck is also sending two elite men to Preston Street: Willem Boersma and Trevor Stothard.
“We are very excited to be participating in the Preston Street Criterium,” said Trek Red Truck manager Evan Mundy. “After some stellar podium results on the west coast we are looking forward to bringing our talents east in the build up to the National Championships and BC Super Week. We would like to thank the organization for having us — it will be a great weekend.”
The 43rd edition of the Preston Street Criterium presented by eQ Homes will take place on its traditional Father’s Day date, which falls on June 21 this year.
The Preston Street Criterium presented by eQ Homes also enjoys the support of the Preston Street BIA, Rogers TV, The Cyclery, Pub Italia, Flynn and a range of other local companies and suppliers.
