2015 Preston winner Jason Lowndes dies after being hit by car

The cycling community got some tragic news today: Jason Lowndes, 23, has died after being hit by a car while training near his home in Bendigo, Australia.

Jason won the elite men’s race at the 2015 Preston Street Criterium in impressive fashion. At the time he was riding for the Quebec-based Garneau-Quebecor team, and in 2017 he was racing for Israel Cycling Academy.

Bike Race Ottawa would like to extend condolences to Jason’s family, friends and teammates in this difficult time.
